Wayne Howard-Saunders first major painting "A Feeling Of A New Summer", is available today!
This vibrant poppy filled and wild flowers painting was created as a gift for a family member. What he didn't know at the time was Wayne was suffering a spinal emergency episode called 'cauda equina syndrome'. One of Wayne's spinal disc has crushed the spinal cord nerve roots from his waist down causing extreme pain. Sadly Wayne already this condition in 2008/9 from an industrial accident and professionals thought this was a flare-up of symptoms, given the long-term effects including centralised pain.
Wayne was determined to finish this painting propped up in a chair with help from his daughter who helped mix the paints and eventually the fine detail. Sadly he was unable to and underwent surgery.
Whilst recovering at home where he paints, he spotted shapes that he could recognise all too well within the painting! If the viewer looks you will see vertebrae's and spine like columns and symmetry within this organic scene!
This painting started Wayne to explore the power of paint and using drawing/painting to unlock an subconscious mind in a form of art therapy.
The Painless Artist was born and he recognises this spring and summer vibrant abstract painting had set him on a patch of fulfilling his creative talent and wants to share his work so you can appreciate his joy. Wayne now uses art and creativity to help with his pain management, escape the frailties' of the human condition when able to do so and promote the impact of spinal injury.
