'Wish You Were Here' - Acrylic on canvas.
78cm x 52cm

The scene should be a fun day at the beach! However, this surreal conversation piece is a reflection of not being present physically or/and mentally enjoying a fun day with your children. Whether or not being able to attend due to spinal injury and physically being there.... or mentally, you are distracted by physical pain.
The relationship between everyday items, family life, and the association of medical / communication products is represented by this concept. The glass box has surfaced again to represent hospital clinical environments and isolation.
Painting this one has taken its time due to sitting and spinal pain with the added fun of dystonic shaking / twitches.

I came close to scrapping this one due to frustration with the outcome, but I thought I would share it regardless. My daughter kindly helped even with colour references and mixing as to top it off. I'm colourblind!
Oh, and some washed-up items. This painting has been very slow to produce due to the flare-ups, however it doesn't matter how long it takes I can still be creative....it just takes me that bit longer....but its worth it for the end result.
That's why I am...
