Easter Message Through Art...A Surrealist's Way!

Easter week is here and this is my surrealist way of painting a message of birth, death and being born again. This artwork (Two Old Friends Meeting Up Again For Easter ) is homage to Salvador Dali & Rene Magritte. I saw the birth of this idea whilst washing my face one morning seeing Dali's moustache pop out in style out of the egg, in a perfect grand entrance like his finely groomed moustache even when he passed away and was buried.
The dove present is a link to the egg and also the reference to Rene's use of birds, and I couldn't deny a cheeky reference to obscuring the birds eyes. Again an apple symbolising not just obscurity but the power of life.
The egg concept is widely used in the symbolic references in surrealism and juxtaposes their passing and meeting up again in the physical form.
Easter celebrates birth and is the perfect time to explain my reference to Easter. I suffered two emergency spinal surgeries and ironic that both happened at Easter in 2009 and 2023.
This Easter, I'm celebrating the birth of The Painless Artist, and this image is a celebration of a new beginning from a traumatic, difficult and realising the previous me has died (the same view shared by other CES sufferers).

So thankyou to everyone around me, family, friends, NHS staff & professionals alike and above all The Cauda Equina Champions Charity for all your help and support.
Wishing Everyone a Happy Easter.
Best wishes,
Wayne
