The Inevitable Anxiety

This large vivid canvas juxtaposes the physical and subconscious worlds and how they both meet to tell a story. We have a greyscale desert with a vivid blue sky to draw the viewer into the isolated glass box. The human figure keeps afloat in a large glass water tank pointing to the sharks circling above in the air.

There is a dilemma of whether the human will be bitten by the sharks as he is suspended in time, but only if the tank is emptied by an external action beyond his control.
There is a clear skeletal hand pointing at the swimmer emerging from flowing water.

Wayne feels this water signifies an old sand timer, which is reflected in the numeric line image representing time or direction. This is placed in the centre, between the tank shadow and the flowing water where the two meet.

The directional arrow is centred towards the viewer with an unexpected bunch of flowers above. Wayne feels this represents the gift of his children who keep him centred and refocused despite his thoughts and perception of that age-old fear of understanding the "inevitable anxiety" of death.
